Pladrest were asked by BAE Systems to provide a turn-key facility for cleaning and painting specialist components. The facility was to be self contained and designed so as to eliminate handling and improve the quality of finish on the component.

The system has now been installed at a factory in the North East and includes paint booth, flash-off tunnel, gas fired tunnel oven and overhead track. Features include variable speed component rotation in the spray booth, automated handling of components through the oven and pre-programmable curing cycles.

The fully stainless steel two stage aqueous wash plant replaces a solvent degreasing system. Pladrest worked closely with BAE Systems to produce a design which would ensure a high standard of cleanliness on the component and provide a system which would integrate with the existing component handling facilities and be easy to use.
